Obama's change in Haiti: the Return of Dictator, Jean Claude Duvalier

Ezili Dantò’s Note on the arrival of Jean Claude Duvalier into Haiti today

Bay kou blye, pote mak sonje
the one who gives the blow, forgets. The one who bears the mark remembers: Over 60,000 and some say as high as nearly 100,000 Haitians were murdered under the bloody US-supported Duvalier (father/son) dictatorships from 1957 to 1986. Browse the galleries of the Fort Dimanche website for stories and pictures of the dead — those political prisoners who were imprisoned, tortured and killed at Fort Dimanche

“Throughout the blood-drenched rule of the Duvaliers (nearly 100,000 killed by the Tontons Macoutes alone), the US barely uttered a peep about human rights violations. In 1986, however, when it became apparent that Baby Doc’s presidency could not in fact be sustained for his entire life (unless he died soon), the Reagan administration airlifted him to a retirement villa in France and started talking about the “democratic process.” ( From The CIAs Greatest Hits, by Mark Zepezauer.”)

Air France flew Jean Claude Duvalier back into Haiti today. A coup for France who saw its influence diminishing as the US took over with the Interim Haiti Reconstruction Commission and the UN occupation. (Ousted president Jean ClaudeBaby Doc” Duvalier returns to Haiti unexpectedly ; Jean-Claude ‘Baby Doc’ Duvalier, ex-Haiti dictator, makes surprise return to country Sunday ).

Why would the world’s most powerful nation, the United States, allow this?

Well, their pillage of poor Haiti is butt-naked right now. At the one-year anniversary of the Haiti earthquake, even the conservative media is talking about the failure of US aid, the UN and the NGO poverty pimping business in Haiti. Thus, the UN, as US proxy, needs to justify its job in Haiti. These folks think of us-Haitians as simplistic animals, so why not set up what’s worked for them in other parts of the world? The bringing back of Jean Claude Duvalier, Haiti’s bloody dictator, is, in their plantation minds, sort of like setting up a Hutu/Tusti thing (Duvalier/Lavalas), a civil war in Haiti, an insecurity to bring “order” to.

Bill Clinton, the poverty-pimp-NGOs, the repugnant UN and the foreign-imposed-IHRC need to distract the world from the donation dollars that’s being pocketed or not collected, so hey, let’s rack up the colonial narrative – remind everyone of those “anti-democratic Haitians not ready for the same standards” as the rest of the “civilized” world. Those infighting, violent, illogical Haitians in love with dictatorship! Why not set up the chess board, right before Feb. 7th – the 25th anniversary of the ouster of Jean Claude Duvalier, bring him back to push the two OAS/Duvalierist candidates – Manigat and Martelly (Sweet Mickey), so everyone can forget about the masses wishes, their total disenfranchisement, the 300,000 dead in 33 seconds and those 1.5million still homeless without sanitation, shelter, clean water; the return of President Aristide; the international fraud since 2004; these imposed UN/US elections. and the UN-imported cholera…We’re just puppets the International community , led by the U.S., are moving around their own battlefield. Haiti is not in control. Haitians are not in control. Air France and American Airlines can land anyone in Haiti.

If Air-France wanted to bring in Osama bin Laden into Haiti, how could Haitians stop it? Still, we-Haitians will be blamed, as usual, for all the outrageous acts the wealthy powers-that-be do in Haiti. The “Friends of Haiti” continue with their macabre plan to further destabilize and exacerbate Haiti’s already agonizing sufferings.

But it’s our fault also, we-Haitians sit around reacting, waiting for THEM to act so we can react. Waiting for the OAS to tell us it didn’t make a mistake and the not fair, not free, non-inclusive Nov. 28 elections it helped orchestrate is not too fraudulent and illegal. HLLN wanted to go to Haiti and make a public statement about the fraudulent elections, we could not get any real support. It’s their play and their game, we’re just consumers of this abomination!

Thank you for this “change” President Barack Obama!

No, Haitians shall not merely consume the repugnant U.N. occupation along with the return to outright dictatorship and this contempt for Haitian rights shown by France, the United States and the Internationals. Haitians are entitled to a participatory democracy and basic human rights. The return of the bloody Baby Doc dictator does not show respect for the democratic rights of Haitians. Haitians deserve justice and respect, not charity, not this return. That means Jean Claude Duvalier must be immediately arrested and tried for the murder, torture and deprivations of human rights he caused. Nearly 100,000 Haitians were tortured and murdered from 1957 to 1986. We have the duty to remember and demand justice for these innocent Haitian lives and freedoms lost. We must also make clear the difference between democracy and dictatorship and not allow the self-serving Haiti Oligarchy and their Haitian zentellectuals, the UN and USAID State Department drones to fudge the lines with their double-speak and photo op-eds of “Duvalier returns amidst praise” as if even if this wasn’t orchestrated and manufactured to show Haitian consent, staged “praise” at the airport could trump legal and moral laws and strictures against mass murder, false imprisonment and torture.

Justice for Haiti means the immediate arrest of the dictator, Jean Claude Duvalier, the return of the democratically elected Jean Betrand Aristide, the end of the UN occupation, an end to the NGO charity industry in Haiti, a stop to Western-dominated exploitation of Haiti resources and lands (through assembly plants, plantations, mines) to services consumers abroad and Western corporations; investment in Haiti food sovereignty, domestic production, jobs and development, and new free and fair elections in Haiti with all eligible political parties permitted to participate including the Fanmi Lavalas party. Nou se rozo, nou pliye nou pa kase

*Nou se roz, nou pliye nou pa kase: Strong winds may bend the bamboo tree all the way down to the ground, but it snaps right back up. It doesn’t break, no matter how strong the wind. So, Haitians have a saying – “Nou se rozo. Nou pliye, nou pa kase “ – like the bamboo tree, we bend but we don’t break; like the flexible ba mboo tree we-Haitians use even the momentum of our falls to stand back up.

Ezili Dantò on Return of hard-line Dictatorship (Jean Claude Duvalier) to Haiti – Interview with Mark Bebawi on kpft.org, Jan. 17, 2011

*Jan. 18 Update:
Duvalier, now a French citizen,  left France on an EXPIRED Haitian passport. But France says it was not complicit in his return to Haiti. See,

Charges filed against ex-dictator Jean-Claude ‘Baby Doc’ Duvalier | Miami Herald – “In Washington, a State Department spokesman said the French government notified the United States about Duvalier’s arrival in Haiti ”roughly an hour before” he landed at Port-au-Prince’s international airport…We did not know he was coming,” said Didier Le-Bret, France’s ambassador to Haiti. He only learned of the looming arrival once Duvalier boarded an Air France flight from Guadeloupe, the Caribbean archipelago 730 miles away. Le-Bret said he immediately notified Haiti’s foreign affairs minister and prime minister. ”He’s not a focal point of the French government,” Le-Bret said. ”He’s a simple French citizen , he’s allowed to do what he wants to do…the passport Duvalier used to leave France was issued in June 2005 by the then U.S.-backed interim government of Gerard Latortue. It expired last year.’

  1. My Sister, this is very important news and I will spread this around the world in 2 minutes. All that i can say is “THANKS….” Your article support my position that neo-colonialism is always transitional back to “colonialism.” All that I can say is THANKS my Sister
    Sekou Osei

  2. The people of Ayiti, of Africa all over the world should come together in one voice and DEMAND that this servant of the empire be captured, imprisoned and brought to justice. He, along with Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, all the NGOs and all the others with the titles of master and/or proprietor be driven from our home and sent sent swimming their respective nations.
WE Retake Our Freedom!! Beginning here this criminal.
    Freedom or Death!!

  3. Thanks Sekou. Can’t put anything past these vampires.

Fact is, it’s intended for Haiti to get worse. The “Friends of Haiti” thrive on creating chaos, shock and awe, division and death. What’s this terribly sick international move to hurt Haiti about?

Here’s one scenario, probably it’s not the worse these “Friends of Haiti” have in store for us, but presumably, the scenario for this civil conflict maybe- jail or execution. What else can Haitians do with Jean Claude Duvalier? Then, of course, that opens the door for the same for the “other.” The annoying thorn the U.S.- Euros really want to eliminate from Haiti’s memory – the twice deposed Constitutionally elected, Jean Bertrand Aristide with still the most popular political party in Haiti that’s been disenfranchised since Bush’s 2004 Haiti regime change. If he’s returned and jailed or executed, than it’s just what those Haitians do to each other! US, UN, France, Canada, uhmm, are just innocent bystanders. You know, the peacekeepers, the human rights standard bearers! Stay tuned…

    1. My Sister.
This is why I send your work all over the world and I think that to understand much we must understand the American role in “Duvalierism” and the US need for cheap sweat shops and their need for totalitarism.
I think at some point in the near future we have to understand the genesis of Duvalierism and its contradictions and genesis within the country, and we have to talk about Estime and Magloire to understand Duvalierism and “Papa and “Baby Doc” Duvalier.
One of the reasons for the return for “Baby Doc” is to have access to some six million dollars, if he beats the charges to a Swiss court.
However, one of the vehicles for the genesis for this to take place is the disarming of the people theoretically and ideologically by the “liberal” activist, who argue to cut deals with the powers that oppress the Haiti people for cheap sweat shops as a way to cut down “unemployment.”
They emote all kinds of sentiment of affection for the people of Haiti, but, they have no affection for “fight back and resistance.” For they are just loquacious coward seeking a comfortable seat at the table of the former slave master.
For all history is a weapon, thus we must grasp it and swing for the head…..

  4. Lets hope that the axis of evil use his return as a face saving to facilitated the return of Jean Bertrand Aristide. Duvalier should be placed under house arrest because he went to exile with $800,000,000 from the Haitian coffer; he spent most of the money now he is penniless.

  5. Why the Haitian don’t forget about all the pass and just remember about the future? I really sure the Duvalier don’t cameback for dictatuere is that he just comeback to help. please understand it Haiti need him. Preval don’t doing anything for Haiti, hi just tried to keep all the money for himself. please Duvalier can rebirth Haiti. What Preval do for the earthquake? and what he do for Cholera? the Haitian need Duvalier.

    1. I agree with you 100% lets forget the past, but it’s time to give the international community a slap on their face by showing them we know what’s good for our country, yet it’s them whom stick their nose in our business too far that is why Haiti is like that. They brought him back to justice because they hear President Titide is plaining to come back to Haiti. They are trying to scare him if he comes back they will take to him to justice. They are using Baby Doc return to do politic. The UN guards who pollute the water in Artibonite, those who finance the rebels in 2004, why don’t they bring them to justice. I hope one day all the Haitian politician come back home we need them.

  6. The comment above mine indicates the type of slave mentality that permeates 95% of the populations everywhere from Haiti to America and on to China and Indonesia. Jean Claude Duvalier will be accepted with open arms by the sheep and hailed as a savior. It is left to the 5% who were born to rule to wage a relentless Holy War upon the globalists pigs and give the helots a kinder and more gentle master. Most of us will not survive this to ever see our victory but those that do should take time out from dancing on the graves of the cabbage merchants (the current rulers of the earth are suitable only for bartering over the price of cabbages in the market place) and contemplate just why the helots must never be allowed to vote on any issue affecting the fate of the earths people again. Democracy was the great lie spread by the mercantile class’s of seventeenth century France that brought us now to this place we are at. We are standing in the fields of Armageddon. Let the show begin!

  7. Little difference between Saddam Hussein with his sons and Papa Doc and his son. Be sure that some right-wing faction inside the U.S. government assisted in the dictator’s return, whether Obamagang knew anything about it or not.
